On an island in the South Seas, Val Stevens and
Lucille Gordon are being married. As the ceremony concludes, word is
brought that a ship is going down on an offshore reef. Val rescues
Captain Deever and a passenger, Eric Blake. Eric accompanies Val and
his wife on a pearl-fishing expedition and saves Val from an octopus.
A friendship grows between the two men.
An incipient love affair between Eric and
Lucille is arrested by Dr. Hardy, who slyly lectures Eric over
highballs. Hardy, believing that Eric is wanted in the States,
tells Val of the romance. When Val confronts the pair, it is
revealed that Val himself is the fugitive and that Eric is the detective
sent to get him. Seeing that Val is living a reformed life with
Lucille, Eric calls the case closed and leaves the island.
(A typical Hollywood ending!
